What is Prana?

Prana (from the Sanskrit प्राण, prāṇa) means "life", "constant movement" which expresses through "breath" and "spirit".

In other traditions, it is also called Ki, Qi or Holy spirit in western culture.

The prana is produced by the sun, and it’s the driving power of the world that inhabits every manifestation of life.

Through breathing, we absorb not only oxygen but life itself.

By becoming more aware of the quality of the prana, we absorb and the quality of our breath, we can invigorate the body and the mind while nourishing our soul.

The praṇa enters our organism through the breath and is channelled into our subtle bodies, energy centres and Chakras from the nadi network. Every breath we take nourishes and sustains us from one moment to the next.

As water purifies the skin, breathing cleanses our whole being.
Conscious breathing techniques can help us direct and channel this prana, improving awareness and opening the doors to higher states of consciousness.
